Armstrong International Resources

These customer stories are great examples of how Armstrong International can help you.

Hospitality Building

A 44,000 square feet across 44 stories with residences, entertainment and retail amenities inclusive of outdoor space, a skyline pool, a fitness club and dining. The design team provided for a 140°F riser through the building for domestic hot water use. The building was divided into seven zones with each supplying hot water to five to six floors.

Educational School District

A School District with 7 high schools, 6 middle schools, and 34 elementary schools.  Two significant hot water problems were resolved, leading to additional projects at the other buildings. 1) A lack of temperature control during varying levels of demand, and 2) The frequency and high cost of maintenance associated with the existing thermostatic mixing valves.

Healthcare

A Hospital with over 400 beds.  The hospital was experiencing fluctuating water temperature to the facility’s central sterilization machine. The lack of water temperature control was caused by a thermostatic mixing valve that was unable to provide accurate control at the required low flows.

Industrial

Infineum is a manufacturer of petroleum additives for lubricants and fuels, a joint venture of ExxonMobil and Shell.  Infineum’s Business and Technology Center (LBTC) is supplied low pressure (140 psig) steam from a nearby refinery through a 16” (410 mm) diameter steam line that runs underneath a major roadway. Steam is used at LBTC for Cogen plant operation, space heating, and light process use.

After years of being supplied steam on a flat contract, LBTC was notified that they would now be billed for actual usage.  In order to avoid additional costs of over a hundred thousand dollars,  Infineum decided to improve the accuracy of steam flow metering and reduce steam consumption.
