ASCO Series 8551 and 8553 Direct Mount Spool Valves are pilot-operated solenoid valves designed for high-flow control of air and inert gases in industrial automation systems. These valves are available in single and dual solenoid configurations and are constructed from anodized aluminum, brass, or 316L stainless steel.
Key Features
Robust Construction:
Available in anodized aluminum, brass, or stainless steel bodies, ensuring durability and corrosion resistance.Enhanced Sealing:
Combines hard T-seals and flexible O-rings to provide bubble-tight shutoff and dirt resistance, contributing to multi-million cycle reliability.Corrosion Protection:
Integral breather block vents to the spring side of the actuator to exhaust, preventing internal corrosion.Flexible Installation:
Valves can be mounted in any position, accommodating various system layouts.Low-Power Options:
Available in low-power constructions, ideal for remote or alternative power locations.Specifications
Valve Types:
8551: 1/4" port size, Cv flow factor of 0.86.
8553: 1/2" port size, Cv flow factor of 3.7.
Operating Pressure:
Both series operate with a minimum pressure of 30 psi and a maximum of 145 psi for AC and 120 psi for DC.Temperature Range:
Standard:
Aluminum bodies operate from 5°F to 125°F (AC) and 5°F to 104°F (DC); brass bodies from -40°F to 125°F (AC) and -40°F to 104°F (DC); stainless steel bodies from -40°F to 104°F (DC).Enclosure Types
Standard watertight enclosures meet NEMA Types 1, 2, 3, 3S, 4, and 4X. Optional explosion-proof and watertight enclosures meet NEMA Types 3, 3S, 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 7, and 9.
Certifications
UL and CSA approvals for aluminum constructions are pending. EF and EV solenoids are UL listed and CSA certified. The valves meet applicable CE directives.
