K-Patents Process Refractometers are commonly used to determine the concentration of dissolved solids by making an optical measurement of a solution’s refractive index (nD).
K-Patents refractometers sensor measures the refractive index nD and the temperature of the process medium. The measurement is based on the refraction of light in the process medium, i.e. the critical angle of refraction using a yellow LED light source with the same avelength (580 nm) as the sodium D line (hence nD.).
The output of the transmitter is a 4 to 20mA DC output signal proportional to process solution concentration, liquid density, Brix or other scale that has been selected for the instrument. Process data can also be downloaded to a computer via an Ethernet cable.

For large pipe sizes and vessel installations. Installation through a flange or clamp connection. Also for applications, such as syrup evaporation, where insufficient flow velocity or sticky medium may require the use of automatic prism cleaning. Area classification Zone 2 (Class I, Div. 2); area classification for Intrinsically safe PR-23-GP-IA Zone 0, Zone 1.

A general industry compact refractometer for the small pipeline and bypass line applications. Installed in the process either directly in a pipe elbow by a Sandvik coupling connection or in a straight pipe via a Wafer flow cell or a Pipe flow cell. Economical option when higher alloys and special wetted parts materials are required. Intrinsically safe and hazardous area certification is provided for hazardous areas.
