SUMMARY

Performs a variety of duties to provide outstanding service to our customers and support to the outside sales staff.  Assists customers by answering questions or resolving complex problems related to the spare or replacement products or systems for the Valve Division.  Sells corporate products to commercial business and industrial establishments or municipalities over the telephone or through web-generated orders.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Answers telephone calls or responds to customer correspondence regarding technical questions or complaints on products or systems;
  • Obtains applicable information to identify correct product needed and advises customer on substitution or modification of product when replacement is necessary;
  • Conducts intensive research to identify products from manuals, computer databases, engineering drawings or other resources to determine product needed for replacement;
  • Selects and specifies products based on customer application and design prerequisites, including identifying custom requirements and communicating details with Engineering;
  • Confers and corresponds with service technicians, service managers or manufacturers to resolve unusual or complex technical problems or refers highly complex problems to Applications Engineer or Manager;
  • Supplies detailed product quotations by computing price, discount and shipping charges as required and within company guidelines;
  • Informs customer of pricing, back orders, delivery, delayed shipments and/or any other problems related to the order process and provides tracking information;
  • Obtains purchase order number and/or credit card information from customer;
  • Enters all pertinent data obtained from faxes, e-mails, telephone or other requests into the computer system to prepare sales order for Shipping Department to fill customer orders from stock and/or Accounting to process invoicing;
  • Assists customers with urgent back orders;
  • Checks credit status of customer and advises customer if account has been placed on hold;
  • Checks shipping orders to ensure they are accurate with regards to quantity shipped, ship to address, etc.;
  • Enters new customer data and other sales data into computer database;
  • Works with Outside Sales Representatives to keep account activities and literature up-to-date;
  • Confers with Accounting to research and resolve invoicing or credit discrepancies;
  • Communicates with customers, co-workers, management and others in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Conforms to all safety and general housekeeping rules and uses appropriate safety equipment, if any;

SUMMARY

Commissions, calibrates, troubleshoots and repairs a variety of equipment in processes on-site for industrial, commercial, pharmaceutical and municipal customers. All of the following duties shall be performed in a timely manner and with minimum interruption to customer’s processes.

  • Read client RFQs including P&IDs, PFDs, process descriptions and equipment specifications.
  • Develop Bill of Material (BOM) list in accordance with RFQ including process equipment, piping, fittings and structural materials in accordance with client specifications.
  • Work with Electrical Systems Designer staff to develop electrical scope of work for RFQ.
  • Assess labor hours required for design and fabrication of Process System according to RFQ.
  • Develop Total System Cost sheet for all components, design labor and fabrication labor.
  • Review process design, cost analysis and schedule with management for final client submittal.
  • Produce formal response to client RFQ including descriptions of structure, piping design, equipment specifications and electrical scope of work.

Project Management

  • Review Receipt of Purchase Order and verify acceptance of order, agreed delivery and Terms and Conditions.
  • Produce Mechanical Drawings with AutoCAD 2012, CadWorx Plant Professional, Creo or ProEngineer software.
  • Assess necessary calculations such as stress analysis, performance analysis, and pressure drop and flow analysis, etc. as required.
  • Participate in design review meetings as required.
  • Submit drawings for approval to client and make changes/corrections upon request.
  • Specify process equipment through equipment vendors in accordance with client specifications and submit for approval.
  • Develop BOM for materials including process equipment, piping and fittings, valves and other components.
  • Submit BOM for purchase to Purchasing Administrator.
  • Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues.
  • Manage fabrication of project through close coordination with client, Mechanical Shop Manager and electrical staff.
  • Work with the Quality department to define problem areas and implement product improvements based on customer QA specifications.
  • Perform FAT Testing in accordance with client test specifications.
  • Interact with clients on design and any questions/problems they may have.
  • Interact with vendors concerning parts they may supply or propose to supply.
  • On-site start up assistance if required.
  • Develop Installation, Operation and Maintenance manuals for project.
  • Coordinate as required with internal groups including purchasing, quality control, sales, production and accounting personnel.

  • Welds components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).

  • Maintains equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
  • Operates overhead crane, forklift, lift trucks or hand trucks to move skid and/or related parts to proper work area.

This job operates in a warehouse-type environment where the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The temperature is usually moderate, however, the employee may occasionally be exposed to extreme cold and heat.  This role routinely uses standard measuring equipment, levels and squares, drills, power saws, grinders or other hand tools.

 Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. Occasional overtime work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Local travel may occur occasionally; overnight or out of town travel on rare occasion.

 Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, use simple math and interpret documents such as safety rules and maintenance instructions.
  • Proficient in MIG, TIG and Strick welding of various types of materials (carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum).

 Preferred Education and Experience

  • Working knowledge of pipe fitting techniques and methods.
  • Ability to work with carbon steel, stainless steel and other metals.
  • Proficient in the use of bevellers, threaders, measuring equipment, levels, squares and various hand tools.

 Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Forklift, hand and/or lift truck experience.
  • Overhead crane experience.
  • Certified in 6G 2” both carbon and stainless steel.

Selling Carotek products and services in a specified region using technical, organizational and customer knowledge to influence customers and assist them in applying the products/services to their needs, resulting in revenue generation by acting as a consultative business partner to customers to determine their current and future needs.  You will be a problem solver, trusted advisor and technical expert in the application of our products.  You will evolve into being relied on as more than a point of contact in understanding the customer’s business drivers.

  • Establish effective relationships with customers to gain their trust and confidence in applying our products;
  • Review specifications, application requirements and other documents and work closely with Inside Sales for preparations of resulting quotations;
  • Provide technical support for customers in the proper use, operation and maintenance of our equipment;
  • Participate in local job-related professional organizations such as ISA, WEF,  ASHRAE and ASPE;
  • Grow territory by increasing penetration of existing accounts and developing new accounts;
  • Advise Inside Sales personnel as to margins to utilize for particular accounts or projects;
  • Actively maintain CRM database,
  • Maintain strong principal relationships;

Minimum Education/Experience

Associates degree in a technical field or business concentration;

4 years’ experience in Outside Sales, preferably in a related industry and with a proven track record of success;

Inside Sales and/or Field Service work a plus.
